Salvage

What do we mean by "salvage"?

The dictionary defines salvage as "property saved from destruction" & "something extracted (usually from rubbish) that is useful or valuable".

That, in essence, is everything that the antiques world involves - saving something that has a continued use or a value. However, there is more to it than just that as most antiques dealers do what they do for other reasons too, and usually its the history or provenance of a piece that first attracts an antique dealer, not its value.

Salvage applies to individual items or bulk, so here at The Curious Cow we salvage everything from hand-made Victorian bricks to cast iron street lamps, just crying out to be re-purposed as a garden pergola!
